Swimming Techniques – Streamline For Freestyle Swimming

A good streamline position is required for freestyle swimming. This is so the body will be able to move through the water effortlessly. Here are a few things that can be done with regards to a good streamline body.

A swimmer should first try out a stance that involves the streamline form. This stance can be tested while out of the water. To do this a swimmer will have to stand up straight with one’s shoulders back and feet together. The arms should be risen straight up with the hands together. The main goal is to look as slim and straight as possible. This is the target style that should be used for freestyle swimming.

It will help to train the legs for this position. A good way to do this is to practice one’s scissor kick exercises. This involves moving one’s legs straight upward while lying down on one’s side. The lifts should be done without any bending of the knees.

The next tip to use is to practice entering the water with one’s arms in an upward and together position. This can be done by keeping the arms up and then putting the body into a ninety degree angle before getting into the water. After entering the water the swimmer can then keep the arms in the same position and kick one’s legs from the hips without creating a strong amount of knee bends.

The head should stay low in the body. This is used to ensure that the entire body will be level. The top part of the head can stay above water as a means of keeping it level.

The main goal of this position is to ensure that the knees do not bend. Bending knees can cause the body to drag in the water. A drag can cause the length of one’s stroke to be reduced substantially. Being able to get the best stroke without the most amount of effort is the main goal in freestyle swimming. Staying level will be vital as a result of this.

The elbows should not be bending either. This can cause the same amount of drag when in the water. All arm movements that will be handled should be done in a straight manner and without causing the body to slow down when in the water. This should be done to help with making it easier for the body to handle the water.
