Fitness Boot Camp – The New Craze For Weight Loss

One of the latest and most popular fitness sensations around the country is the introduction of the fitness boot camp. With a catchy yet intimidating title such as “boot camp”, it can be difficult to decide whether or not it is something for you and your lifestyle. However, don’t let the name scare you! These fitness programs are meant to be fun and relaxing, while at the same time helping you to set and reach serious fitness goals.

If you are like many, you may not even know what a fitness boot camp is, let alone if it is right for you, your schedule, and your health. Below, we take a look at what exactly a fitness boot camp is as well as what to look for when seeking the best one for you.

What is a fitness boot camp?

So, you want to enroll in a results-driven exercise regimen and are considering a fitness boot camp. The only thing is, you’re not exactly sure what goes on at one of these programs. If you’re like many, you hear the term “fitness boot camp” and assume it’s rigorous, but unaware of how rigorous and if it is something you would be able to manage, realistically.

As with anything, there are various kinds of fitness boot camps, varying in their intensity. Some are run by retired army or navy personnel that set strict rules and regulations. Most, however, are more relaxed in nature, so you have nothing to worry about. Some boot camps are comprised of strenuous one hour exercise sessions a few times a week. These exercise classes tend to be a bit more intense than your average work out classes, but good trainers will not push you past your limits.

While these types of programs may be a more serious way to get in shape, most participants really count the results as not only worthwhile but priceless. Being involved in continuous physical exercise for a sustained one hour period a few times a week maximizes that hour spent and offers better results in a shorter period of time. Let’s face it, time is something most of us do not have enough of.

What to Look For

As with everything, it is always important to know what to look for before signing up. Different fitness boot camps offer different things, and it’s important to know what they offer in relation to what you want in a fitness boot camp.

Here are the basics:

1. Doctor permission: Due to the fact that most fitness boot camps are a bit more rigorous than your average program, most fitness camps will require a note from your doctor saying that you are not at risk health-wise and able to participate in their sessions safely.

2. Fitness levels: Another thing to look for in a good fitness boot camp is the availability of boot camp classes for different fitness levels. Though a lot of camps offer only one generic type of class, it’s best to have a beginner, intermediate, and advanced class to make everyone get the best results possible for their particular situation.

3. Instructors: Instructors should always have some level of professional and certified training, and be able to show you. Before starting any fitness regimen, you should know that your instructor is trained as they have your health in your hands.
